HAZARD...70 mph wind gusts. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Expect considerable tree damage. Damage is likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings. Locations impacted include... At 734 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from near Sumiton to near Clay to near Hokes Bluff. Movement was southeast at 45 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is possible. Locations impacted include... Northeastern Birmingham, Anniston, Oxford, Trussville, Gardendale, Pell City, Jacksonville, Irondale, Leeds, Moody, Rainbow City, Fultondale, Piedmont, Springville, Odenville, Heflin, Sumiton, Cobb Town, Fort McClellan, and Saks. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms and may lead to localized flooding. ...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 945 PM CDT THIS EVENING... WHAT...Urban and small stream flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected. WHERE...A portion of central Alabama, including the following counties, Blount, Fayette, Jefferson and Walker. WHEN...Until 945 PM CDT. IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 743 PM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Northeastern Birmingham, Trussville, Jasper, Gardendale, Fultondale, Sumiton, Cordova, Dora, Carbon Hill, Cleveland, Dallas, Center Point, Clay, Pinson, Tarrant, Adamsville, Argo, Warrior, Kimberly and Graysville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
