Description

Wintry weather is expected this weekend. Locations: western, central, and northeastern Newfoundland. Additional snowfall (today): 2 to 5 cm (northeastern Newfoundland). Potential snowfall (Sunday afternoon into Sunday night): near 15 cm, with higher amounts possible over elevated terrain. Remarks: Snowfall associated with a weather system passing south of Newfoundland will continue to taper off from west to east this afternoon. A second system, affecting the region Easter Sunday afternoon through Sunday night, will bring a more significant round of snow, followed by a brief period of ice pellets and freezing rain. Precipitation will then change to rain showers as temperatures rise. Snow accumulation may make travel slow or hazardous. Roads and walkways could become slippery and difficult to navigate. Consider adjusting travel plans to avoid the most adverse conditions. ### Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada.
