...ICE STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 5 PM EDT WEDNESDAY... WHAT...Significant icing. Total snow and sleet accumulations up to one inch and ice accumulations between one tenth and three tenths of an inch. East to northeast winds gusting as high as 25-35mph tonight. WHERE...A portion of Northern Lower Michigan. WHEN...Until 5 PM EDT Wednesday. IMPACTS...Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice and gusty winds. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions will impact the Wednesday morning commute...and could linger into the Wednesday evening commute. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There is still potential for sleet to mix in. If more sleet mixes in than expected, ice accumulations will be less than current expectations. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Travel is strongly discouraged. If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. Prepare for possible power outages. Do not touch downed lines and report any power outages to your electric company. Travel is highly discouraged due to slick roadways and the possibility of downed trees and power lines.
