Description

A prolonged period of rain, at times heavy, is expected. Total rainfall: 35 to 45 mm. Locally higher amounts are possible, especially over high elevations. Locations: Channel-Port aux Basques and vicinity. Time span: overnight tonight until overnight Tuesday night. Similar storms in the past have caused: - rapid runoff due to frozen or saturated ground - accelerated snowmelt adding to runoff volumes Remarks: Snow will quickly change through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain overnight. ### Water will likely pool on roads and in low-lying areas. Description

Strong winds are expected. Maximum gusts: southeasterly up to 120 km/h in the Wreckhouse area this evening until overnight then between 90 and 110 km/h through Tuesday evening. ### High-sided vehicles will be pushed around by the wind. Damage to roofs, fences, branches or soft shelters is possible. Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.
