...FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL EARLY WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON... WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. WHERE...East Fork White River near Rivervale. WHEN...Until early Wednesday afternoon. IMPACTS...At 20.5 feet, Lawrenceport Road just east of Lawrenceport and on the south side of river begins to flood around this level. During typical floods in this area this portion of the road can be flooded by 5 to more than 10 feet of water. During the January 2005 flood this area would have been near the "bottom" of the river, underwater by nearly 17 feet. In the Great March 1913 flood, more than 25 feet of water would have covered this location. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:30 PM EDT Monday the stage was 21.2 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:30 PM EDT Monday was 22.3 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Wednesday morning and continue falling and remain below flood stage. - Flood stage is 20.0 feet. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood

...The Flood Warning continues for the following rivers in Indiana... East Fork White River near Rivervale. .Flooding continues on lower portions of the Wabash, White, and East Fork White rivers in central and southern Indiana as a result of excessive rainfall. Flooding remains confined on the Wabash to the Mount Carmel area and is expected to continue until next weekend. Flooding on the White River is expected to last as long as March 25 at Hazleton. Flooding on the East Fork White River should conclude by the middle of this week. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Flooding is occurring or is imminent. Most flood related deaths occur in automobiles. Do not attempt to cross water covered bridges, dips, or low water crossings. Never try to cross a flowing stream, even a small one, on foot. To escape rising water find another route over higher ground. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
