WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, dense fog will reduce visibility to less than 1 NM. For the Gale Warning, south gales to 35 kt and significant waves to 7 ft occasionally to 9 ft. For the Small Craft Advisory, southwest winds to 30 kt and significant waves to 6 ft occasionally to 8 ft expected. WHERE...Winthrop Harbor to Wilmette Harbor IL. WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 4 PM CDT this afternoon. For the Gale Warning, until 9 PM CDT this evening. For the Small Craft Advisory, from 9 PM this evening to 4 AM CDT Friday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Low visibility will make navigation difficult. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... ...The National Weather Service in Chicago IL has issued a Flood Watch for the following rivers in Illinois... Des Plaines River near Des Plaines affecting Central Cook and Northern Cook zones. Fox River at Dayton affecting La Salle zone. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Flood Watch means water levels above flood stage are possible, but not yet certain, based upon the latest forecasts. Persons along rivers and streams in the watch area should monitor the latest forecasts and be prepared to take action should flooding develop. These forecasts are based on observed precipitation as well as forecast precipitation 24 hours into the future.
