...AN AREA OF MIXED HEAVY RAIN, SNOW AND STRONG GUSTY WINDS NOW MOVING THROUGH THE AREA... A squall line has developed along an incoming cold front. This is producing a period of heavy rain, changing to heavy snow as it moves quickly east. Winds could also gust up to 40 mph near or behind the line. Snow will begin accumulating first over the higher elevations on grassy surfaces. However, heading toward and especially after sunset temperatures will fall to around the freezing mark and snow accumulation may begin on untreated paved surfaces. If you are traveling this evening be prepared for rapidly changing visibility and road conditions.

WHERE...In New York, Chemung, Schuyler, Seneca, Southern Cayuga, Steuben, Tompkins, and Yates Counties. In Pennsylvania, Bradford and Wyoming Counties. WHEN...Until 2 PM EDT Saturday. IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...There will be several periods of stronger winds, with this afternoon seeing strong southerly winds, then a break this evening, before stronger west wind develop tonight into Saturday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
