THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED TORNADO WATCH 69 UNTIL 8 PM EDT THIS EVENING WHICH REPLACES A PORTION OF TORNADO WATCH 66. THE NEW WATCH IS VALID FOR THE FOLLOWING AREAS IN NORTH CAROLINA THE NEW WATCH INCLUDES 3 COUNTIES IN CENTRAL NORTH CAROLINA CUMBERLAND HARNETT WAKE THIS INCLUDES THE CITIES OF ANGIER, APEX, BUIES CREEK, CARY, DUNN, ERWIN, FAYETTEVILLE, HOPE MILLS, KNIGHTDALE, LILLINGTON, RALEIGH, SPRING LAKE, AND WAKE FOREST.

...STRONG THUNDERSTORMS WILL IMPACT WARREN...NASH...NORTHWESTERN EDGECOMBE...HALIFAX...EAST CENTRAL WAKE...NORTH CENTRAL JOHNSTON AND CENTRAL FRANKLIN COUNTIES THROUGH 230 PM EDT... At 125 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from Warrenton to near Louisburg to near Zebulon. Movement was northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Rocky Mount, Roanoke Rapids, Nashville, Louisburg, Warrenton, Halifax, Zebulon, Scotland Neck, Norlina, and Dortches. This includes the following highways... Interstate 95 between Mile Markers 173 and 127. NC Highway 264 between Mile Markers 20 and 32. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. Doppler radar has indicated weak areas of rotation with this line of storms. If the storm intensifies and rotation strengthens, a warning may need to be issued.
