WHAT...For the Blowing Dust Advisory, visibility between one-quarter and one mile in blowing dust. For the High Wind Warning, west winds 35 to 55 mph with gusts up to 90 mph. WHERE...Central Laramie County, Central Laramie Range and Southwest Platte County, South Laramie Range, and South Laramie Range Foothills. WHEN...For the Blowing Dust Advisory, until 6 PM MDT this evening. For the High Wind Warning, until midnight MDT Saturday Night. IMPACTS...Hazardous driving conditions due to reduced visibility. Mainly to transportation. Strong cross winds will be hazardous to light weight or high profile vehicles, including campers and tractor trailers. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons with respiratory problems should make preparations to stay indoors until the storm passes. Be ready for a sudden drop in visibility to near zero. If you encounter blowing dust or blowing sand on the roadway or see it approaching, pull off the road as far as possible and put your vehicle in park. Turn the lights all the way off and keep foot off the brake pedal. Remember, 'Pull Aside, Stay Alive'. A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Dust Storm Warning for... Southeastern Albany County in southeastern Wyoming... Southwestern Laramie County in southeastern Wyoming... Until 315 PM MDT. At 109 PM MDT, a significant area of blowing dirt and dust was over the southern Laramie Range Mountains, and being carried eastward by westerly winds in excess of 60 mph. HAZARD...Less than a quarter mile visibility with damaging wind in excess of 60 mph. SOURCE...Trained weather spotters, highway road observations, and satellite data all indicate blowing dust moving eastward. IMPACT...Dangerous life-threatening travel. This includes the following highways... Interstate 25 in Wyoming between mile markers 3 and 30. Interstate 80 in Wyoming between mile markers 335 and 380. Locations impacted include... Cheyenne, Happy Valley, Federal, Table Mountain Ranches, Willadsen Estates, Rocking Star Ranch, Silver Sage Estates, Granite Canon, Fox Farm-College, Cheyenne Regional Airport, Winchester Hills, North Crow Campground, Ranchettes, Warren AFB, Frontier Park, North Cheyenne, Horse Creek, Curt Gowdy State Park, Bison Crossing, and Laramie County Fairgrounds at Archer. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Dust storms lead to dangerous driving conditions with visibility reduced to near zero. If driving, avoid dust storms if possible. If caught in one, pull off the road, turn off your lights and keep your foot off the brake. Motorists should not drive into a dust storm. PULL ASIDE STAY ALIVE! WIND...West winds 30 to 50 mph, with gusts up to 90 mph on Thursday; West winds 25 to 45 mph and gusts up to 70 mph Friday and Saturday. HUMIDITY...Between 15 and 22 percent. Overnight recoveries as low as 39 precent. HIGHEST THREAT...is located along the I-80 corridor. IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is not recommended.
