...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL MIDNIGHT EDT TONIGHT FOR ERIE, LORAIN AND CUYAHOGA COUNTIES... At 1010 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE...Law enforcement reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Cleveland, Lorain, Elyria, Sandusky, Vermilion, Western Vermilion, Parma, Lakewood, Cleveland Heights, Strongsville, Brunswick, Westlake, North Royalton, North Ridgeville, Solon, Avon Lake, Warrensville Heights, Amherst, Macedonia and Grafton. I-77 south is closed at State Route 21 in Cuyahoga Heights due to flash flooding. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. In northeast Ohio, Ashtabula, Cuyahoga, Geauga, Medina, Summit and Trumbull. In northwest Ohio, Sandusky. WHEN...Until 1100 PM EDT. IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 804 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area. Between 0.5 and 1.5 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2 inches are expected over the area.
