...Patches of Black Ice Expected Overnight into Early Thursday Morning... Residual wet surfaces from snowmelt will freeze overnight as temperatures drop back well below freezing. This will allow patches of black ice to form on untreated ground surfaces. Motorists traveling overnight through early Thursday morning should allow extra time to reach their destination and be prepared for black ice. Untreated walkways and parking lots may also become very slippery for pedestrians.

Ice accumulations of one tenth to one quarter of an inch with slightly higher amounts over the Berkshires, Litchfield Hills and the eastern Catskills. WHERE...In New York, the eastern Catskills, Schoharie Valley, Helderbergs, Mohawk Valley, southern Adirondacks, upper Hudson Valley, Capital District, and the north central Taconics. IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday morning commute. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Precipitation begins this afternoon as mainly rain, changing over to a wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain, with some snow across northern areas. The wintry mix tapers off Friday morning.
