WHAT...For the Winter Storm Warning, snow. Additional snow accumulations between 2 and 4 inches. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph leading to significant blowing snow this evening. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy mixed precipitation possible. Total snow and sleet accumulations between one and two feet and ice accumulations between one tenth to one quarter of an inch possible. Locally higher snow and ice amounts will be possible. Highest snow amounts will be north of M-68 and highest icing south of M-68. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph. WHERE...Beaver Island and surrounding islands, and Cheboygan, Emmet, and Presque Isle Counties. WHEN...For the Winter Storm Warning, until 2 AM EDT Saturday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from late Saturday night through Monday evening. IMPACTS...Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. Power outages and tree damage are likely due to the ice. Travel could be nearly impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the Friday evening and Monday morning commutes.
