IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. WHAT...Flash flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible. WHERE...The Big Island. WHEN...Through Saturday afternoon. The greatest risk for flash flooding is Friday night through Saturday. IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Considerable flash flooding is possible beginning later today as a large and powerful kona storm northwest of the state draws deep tropical moisture northward across the islands. Persistent bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall rates, leading to rapid rises in streams and flooding of roads and low-lying areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

Scattered to numerous showers with isolated thunderstorms will produce frequent gusts over 25 knots and locally heavy downpours across the Hawaiian coastal waters through at least tonight. Short-lived waterspouts will also be possible. Mariners should pay attention to rapidly changing weather conditions and possible marine warnings.
