IMPACTS...At 21.5 feet, All of the area on the west side of the Wabash River is flooded from Sugar Creek to U.S. 40 and I-70. South Lake becomes part of the wetland project. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 8:30 PM EDT Friday /7:30 PM CDT Friday/ the stage was 17.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 8:30 PM EDT Friday /7:30 PM CDT Friday/ was 17.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 21.5 feet Tuesday evening. Forecast precipitation through 8 AM Monday morning is expected to be between 0.50 and 0.70 in the vicinity of the Wabash River. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding. Some elevated river cottages are surrounded by water. Several county or township roads east of Lincoln Heritage Trail between Palestine and Hutsonville in Crawford County Illinois are impassable.
