...STRONG SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS APPROACHING THE WATERS THIS AFTERNOON... The areas affected include... Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 0-20 nm... Flagler Beach to Volusia-Brevard County Line 20-60 nm... At 217 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. This thunderstorm was located over Ormond-By-the-Sea, moving east at 25 knots. Additional storms will push off of the Volusia coast during the afternoon. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until this storm passes. A special marine warning may eventually be required when these thunderstorms reach the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before this activity arrives.
