...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM 7 PM THIS EVENING TO 4 PM CDT MONDAY... WHAT...Heavy snow expected, briefly mixing with sleet at times late Saturday night through early Sunday. Total snow accumulations between 18 and 24 inches with locally higher amounts possible. Winds gusting as high as 50 mph will result in considerable blowing and drifting snow and possible blizzard conditions late Sunday into Monday. WHERE...Marathon, Langlade, Lincoln, Door, Menominee, Shawano, and Southern Oconto counties. WHEN...From 7 PM this evening to 4 PM CDT Monday. IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible with potential for whiteout conditions. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches and cause power outages. The Monday morning commute will be impacted. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1. People should consider delaying all travel. Winds backing to the northwest to 40 kts on Monday before subsiding on Monday night. Waves 8 to 12 ft Sunday morning increasing to 12 to 18 ft Sunday night and Monday. WHERE...Lake Michigan nearshore waters from Washington Island to Sheboygan. WHEN...From Sunday morning through Tuesday morning. IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should consider altering plans to avoid possible hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe wind and waves.
