...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 6 AM MDT SUNDAY... WHAT...Periods of snow expected. Total snow accumulations between 7 and 14 inches, greatest over the higher hills. Locally higher totals are possible. WHERE...Portions of central and south central Montana. WHEN...Until 6 AM MDT Sunday. IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult at times. The hazardous conditions will impact the Friday commutes. Cold and wet conditions will be dangerous for young livestock. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Roads are expected to be slushy in most areas through the day Friday. Heavier snow is expected Friday night through Saturday evening with roads conditions deteriorating further at that time. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency. For the latest road conditions, call 5 1 1.

...AN AREA OF HEAVY SNOW WILL IMPACT SOUTHERN CUSTER...MUSSELSHELL... GOLDEN VALLEY...SOUTHEASTERN WHEATLAND...NORTHWESTERN CARTER...POWDER RIVER...TREASURE...NORTHERN YELLOWSTONE...NORTHEASTERN BIG HORN AND ROSEBUD COUNTIES UNTIL 2 PM MDT... At 1229 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking an area of heavy snow along a line from 6 miles northwest of Deadmans Basin Reservoir to 15 miles southeast of Ashland, or along a line from 17 miles east of Harlowton to 30 miles west of Broadus, moving northeast at 25 mph. Locations impacted include... Colstrip, Roundup, Forsyth, Broadus, Ekalaka, Hysham, Custer, Ryegate, Melstone, Lame Deer, Ashland, Ballantine, Worden, Volborg, Deadmans Basin Reservoir, Rosebud, Musselshell, Lavina, Vananda and Bighorn. Visibilities will drop quickly to less than a quarter of a mile in this heavy snow. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Conditions can deteriorate rapidly in winter weather situations. Be prepared for snow or ice covered roads. Slow down and allow extra time when traveling.
