WHERE...Kauai Northwest Waters, Kauai Windward Waters, Kauai Leeward Waters, Kauai Channel and Oahu Leeward Waters. WHEN...From 6 PM this evening to 6 AM HST Saturday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Gale Warning means winds of 34 to 47 knots are imminent or occurring. Operating a vessel in gale conditions requires experience and properly equipped vessels. It is highly recommended that mariners without the proper experience seek safe harbor prior to the onset of gale conditions.

WHERE...The island of Kauai in Kauai County. WHEN...Until midnight HST tonight. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 928 PM HST, radar indicated that a large area of rain moving in from the southwest will continue to overspread the Garden Isle for the next hour or two. Embedded heavier showers within this large shield of rain were producing rainfall rates up to 1.5 inches per hour. - This advisory includes the entire island of Kauai. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect. You should remain alert to rapidly changing conditions, and listen for later statements, and possible warnings. This advisory may need to be extended beyond midnight HST tonight if; flooding persists.

IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Considerable flash flooding remains possible as a large and powerful kona storm northwest of the state draws deep tropical moisture northward across the islands. Persistent bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall rates, leading to rapid rises in streams and flooding of roads and low lying areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.
