WHAT...For the Wind Advisory, south winds 20 to 35 mph with gusts up to 55 mph, shifting west late tonight. Isolated gusts to 60 mph possible. For the Dense Fog Advisory, visibility one quarter mile or less in dense fog. WHERE...Portions of southern Connecticut and southeast New York. WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 1 AM EDT Tuesday. For the Wind Advisory, until 4 AM EDT Tuesday. IMPACTS...Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects. Scattered tree limbs, as well as isolated trees and powerlines could be blown down. Power outages possible. Locally damaging wind gusts in excess of 60 mph are possible with any stronger thunderstorm activity this evening into tonight. This activity will be addressed by Special Weather Statements or Severe Thunderstorm Warnings as needed. Low visibility could make driving conditions hazardous. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... WHAT...For the Dense Fog Advisory, dense fog will reduce visibility to 1/4 NM or less. For the Gale Warning, south winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt, becoming west late tonight. Seas 4 to 7 feet on Long Island Sound. WHERE...Long Island Sound. WHEN...For the Dense Fog Advisory, until 2 AM EDT Tuesday. For the Gale Warning, until 6 AM EDT Tuesday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Low visibility will make navigation difficult. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions. IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 758 PM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain capable of causing urban and small stream flooding. Between 0.4 and 0.7 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall of up to 0.5 inch is expected. - Some locations that could experience minor flooding include...
