A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Chesapeake Bay from Pooles Island to Sandy Point MD... Chesapeake Bay north of Pooles Island MD... Chester River to Queenstown MD... Patapsco River including Baltimore Harbor... At 534 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated a front, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots along with an abrupt wind shift of north to northwesterly. This front was located along a line extending from 28 nm northwest of Middle River to 33 nm northwest of Back River to 29 nm northwest of Key Bridge, moving southeast at 20 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots along with an abrupt wind shift and locally higher waves. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass. This front will likely produce winds to around 30 knots, and could pose a serious hazard for boaters. A special marine warning may eventually be required when this front reaches the nearshore waters. Boaters should consider heading for shore before this front arrives.

...AIR QUALITY ALERT IS IN EFFECT FOR TUESDAY MAY 19 2026... The Maryland Department of the Environment has issued a Code ORANGE Air Quality Alert Tuesday for the Baltimore City Metro and Annapolis region. A Code Orange Air Quality Alert means that air pollution concentrations within the region may become unhealthy for sensitive groups. Sensitive groups include children, people suffering from asthma, heart disease or other lung diseases and the elderly. The effects of air pollution can be minimized by avoiding strenuous activity or exercise outdoors.
