WHAT...Southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts around 60 mph expected, become west late this afternoon with isolated gusts to 65 mph. WHERE...All of southeast Michigan. WHEN...Until 10 PM EDT this evening. IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in the lower levels of your home during the windstorm, and avoid windows. Watch for falling debris and tree limbs. Use caution if you must drive.

At 1239 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking gusty showers along a line extending from near Imlay City to Livonia to Adrian. Movement was east at 35 mph. A wind gust of 71 mph was observed in Ann Arbor, with widespread gusts in excess of 55 mph. A High Wind Warning remains in effect through this evening. HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 55 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Showers will be near... Livonia, Troy, Southfield, Romulus, Adrian, Ypsilanti, Tecumseh, Milan, Canton, and Dearborn around 1245 PM EDT. Warren, Taylor, Romeo, Sterling Heights, and Detroit Zoo around 1250 PM EDT. WHAT...During the Gale Warning, expect sustained winds up to 30 knots from the west with gusts up to 48 knots. The largest significant waves will be 5 feet with a potential maximum wave height of 7 feet. During the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water levels. WHERE...Michigan Waters of Lake Erie from Detroit River to North Cape MI. WHEN...The maximum winds are expected around 6 PM EDT Friday with the largest waves expected around 9 AM EDT Friday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...During the Gale Warning, low to medium confidence in a period of storm force gusts between 4 PM and 9 PM today. Highest gusts are expected along the shoreline. A short fused upgrade to a Storm Warning is possible as observations warrant. During the Low Water Advisory, strong west to southwest winds will cause water levels across the western basin to fall 1 to 2 feet below low water datum. The critical mark for safe navigation is currently 6 inches below low water datum. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions.
