A wind gust of 71 mph was observed in Ann Arbor, with widespread gusts in excess of 55 mph. A High Wind Warning remains in effect through this evening. HAZARD...Wind gusts in excess of 55 mph. ...GALE WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT SATURDAY... ...LOW WATER ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 AM EDT SATURDAY... WHAT...During the Gale Warning, expect sustained winds up to 30 knots from the west with gusts up to 48 knots. The largest significant waves will be 5 feet with a potential maximum wave height of 7 feet. During the Low Water Advisory, abnormally low water levels. WHERE...Michigan Waters of Lake Erie from Detroit River to North Cape MI. WHEN...The maximum winds are expected around 6 PM EDT Friday with the largest waves expected around 9 AM EDT Friday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Below normal water levels will result in hazardous navigating conditions. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...During the Gale Warning, low to medium confidence in a period of storm force gusts between 4 PM and 9 PM today. Highest gusts are expected along the shoreline. A short fused upgrade to a Storm Warning is possible as observations warrant. During the Low Water Advisory, strong west to southwest winds will cause water levels across the western basin to fall 1 to 2 feet below low water datum.
