For the Gale Warning, east winds 25 to 35 kt Sunday morning turning to north winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt Sunday night through Monday night. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on vessels. For the Gale Warning, from 4 AM early this morning to 1 AM CDT Tuesday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 4 AM Monday to 11 AM CDT Tuesday. IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Gales may diminish briefly during the day Sunday, before winds turn northerly and become strong gales Sunday evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation. ...WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 PM SUNDAY TO 4 PM CDT MONDAY... WHAT...Snow and some sleet expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 2 and 5 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 MPH leading to some blowing and drifting snow. WHERE...Kenosha, Milwaukee, Racine, Walworth, and Waukesha Counties. WHEN...From 10 PM Sunday to 4 PM CDT Monday. IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Monday morning and evening commutes. Gusty winds could bring down tree branches. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.
