...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM CDT SUNDAY... WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation. Additional snow accumulations between 4 and 6 inches and ice accumulations around a light glaze. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph. WHERE...South Aitkin and Carlton and South St. Louis Counties. This includes the Tribal Lands of the Mille Lacs Band, East Lake area and the Fond du Lac Band. WHEN...Until 1 AM CDT Sunday. IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult. Expect visibility less than 1/4 mile at times and snow covered and slippery roads. ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The majority of ice accumulations will be Friday evening and Friday night. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... WHERE...Duluth MN to Port Wing WI, Port Wing to Sand Island WI, Sand Island to Bayfield WI and Outer Apostle Islands Beyond 5 NM from Mainland. WHEN...Until 10 AM CDT this morning. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for hazardous conditions.
