WHERE...Island wide strong gusty winds are possible, but areas most at risk are communities north and east of steep mountains. WHEN...Until 6 AM HST Sunday. IMPACTS...Damaging winds may blow down trees and power lines and damage roofs. Power outages are possible. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Strong winds may lead to property damage. Hazardous driving conditions due to powerful cross winds will pose a serious risk for drivers, especially for light weight and high profile vehicles. Loose outdoor items should be brought inside or secured properly.

...FLOOD ADVISORY NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 1115 AM HST THIS MORNING FOR THE ISLAND OF MOLOKAI IN MAUI COUNTY... WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. WHERE...The island of Molokai in Maui County. WHEN...Until 1115 AM HST. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Water over roadways. River or stream flows are elevated. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 935 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain continuing to move over the island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Water levels in Kawela Gulch stream were rising rapidly, though no significant impacts have yet been reported. Rainfall is expected to ease over the next hour, but lingering flood impacts are still possible. - This advisory includes the entire island of Molokai. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. A Flood Watch is also in effect for the state of Hawaii through Saturday afternoon. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1115 AM HST if flooding; persists.

WHEN...Until 1000 AM HST. IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in streams. Some low-water crossings may become impassable. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 647 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain moving over the island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Landslides are also possible as the ground is already saturated and periods of additional heavy rain are expected through the day today. - This advisory includes the entire island of Maui. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. A Flood Watch is also in effect for the state of Hawaii through Saturday afternoon. This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1000 AM HST if flooding; persists.

IMPACTS...Significant flooding may occur due to the overflow of streams and drainages. Roads in several areas may be closed, along with property damage in urban or low lying spots due to runoff. Landslides may also occur in areas with steep terrain. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Considerable flash flooding is possible as a large and powerful kona storm northwest of the state draws deep tropical moisture across the islands. Persistent bands of heavy rain and thunderstorms may produce intense rainfall rates, leading to rapid rises in streams and flooding of roads and low lying areas. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should Flash Flood Warnings be issued.

IMPACTS...Strong winds can cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Gale Watch is issued when the risk of gale force winds of 34 to 47 knots has significantly increased but the specific timing and/or location is still uncertain.
