...WINTER STORM WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL 4 PM CDT MONDAY... WHAT...Heavy mixed precipitation expected. Total snow and sleet accumulations between 4 and 7 inches and ice accumulations between one tenth and one quarter inch. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph. WHERE...Sheboygan and Dodge Counties. WHEN...Until 4 PM CDT Monday. IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous. Visibilities may drop below 1/4 mile due to falling and blowing snow. The strong winds and weight of snow and ice on tree limbs may down power lines and could cause sporadic power outages. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Persons are urged to stay indoors until conditions improve. If you must go outside, dress in layers. Several layers of clothes will keep you warmer than a single heavy coat. Cover exposed skin to reduce your risk of frostbite or hypothermia. Gloves, a scarf, and a hat will keep you from losing your body heat. Persons should consider delaying all travel. Motorists should use extreme caution if travel is absolutely necessary.

WHAT...For the Gale Warning, east to north to northwest winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and waves 7 to 12 ft. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, heavy freezing spray at a rate of 2 cm per hour or greater expected, and may rapidly accumulate on vessels. WHERE...Nearshore Waters from Sheboygan to Winthrop Harbor IL. WHEN...For the Gale Warning, until 1 AM CDT Tuesday. For the Heavy Freezing Spray Warning, from 4 AM Monday to 11 AM CDT Tuesday. IMPACTS...Operating a vessel in heavy freezing spray is hazardous. Freezing spray may render mechanical and electronic components inoperative. Rapid ice accretion on decks and superstructures may result in a catastrophic loss of stability. Strong winds will cause hazardous waves which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners should prepare for dangerous accumulation of ice on their vessel. If possible, remain in port, avoid the warning area or conduct mitigation. Mariners should alter plans to avoid these hazardous conditions. Remain in port, seek safe harbor, alter course, and/or secure the vessel for severe conditions.
