The National Weather Service in Denver has issued a Red Flag Warning for wind and low relative humidity, which is in effect from 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Thursday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect. AFFECTED AREA...Fire Weather Zones 238 and 239. TIMING...From 11 AM to 9 PM MDT Thursday. WINDS...West 25 to 40 mph with gusts up to 75 mph possible. RELATIVE HUMIDITY...As low as 15 percent. IMPACTS...Conditions will be favorable for rapid fire spread. Avoid outdoor burning and any activity that may produce a spark and start a wildfire. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now....or will shortly. A combination of strong winds...low relative humidity...and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior.

WHEN...From Thursday morning through Thursday evening. IMPACTS...Damaging winds could blow down trees and power lines. Power outages are possible. Travel could be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Strong winds may lead to rapid growth of any new fires, particularly below 7,500 ft. Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects and a few power outages may result. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe location prior to the onset of winds. Winds this strong can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution.
