...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 530 AM CDT EARLY THIS MORNING FOR WESTERN COOPER, PETTIS AND SOUTHERN SALINE COUNTIES IN CENTRAL MISSOURI AND NORTHEASTERN HENRY, EASTERN JOHNSON AND SOUTHEASTERN LAFAYETTE COUNTIES IN WEST CENTRAL MISSOURI... At 1210 AM CDT, the public reported flash flooding in the Clinton area, with heavy rain spreading into Pettis and Saline counties. Between 1 and 3 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 2.5 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already occurring. HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain. SOURCE...Public reported. IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. Some locations that will experience flash flooding include... Sedalia, Warrensburg, Marshall, Clinton, Windsor, Knob Noster, Concordia, Sweet Springs, Whiteman Air Force Base, La Monte, Smithton, Green Ridge, Calhoun, Otterville, Houstonia, Whiteman Afb, Coal, Emma, Nelson and Hughesville. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. WHEN...Until 900 AM CDT Thursday. IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 255 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. Flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area. Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are possible in the warned area. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... ...FLOOD WARNING NOW IN EFFECT UNTIL EARLY SATURDAY AFTERNOON... WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. WHERE...Big Creek at Blairstown. WHEN...Until early Saturday afternoon. IMPACTS...At 20.0 feet, the west bank of the creek begins to flood. At 23.0 feet, flooding occurs at the west approach to the N Highway bridge located 0.2 miles west of Blairstown. Flooding also occurs across B Highway near Big Creek which is several miles northwest of Blairstown. At 26.0 feet, many farm levees along Big Creek are overtopped. Flooding of rural areas behind the levees occurs. ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:00 AM CDT Thursday the stage was 23.7 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 24.9 feet this morning. Areas affected include low lying pastures along with cropland and secondary roads. At 28.0 feet, K Highway is under water approximately 1 mile south of Urich.
