WHAT...For the Small Craft Advisory, northwest winds 20 kt with gusts up to 25 to 30 kt expected. For the Gale Warning, northeast winds 25 to 35 kt with gusts up to 40 kt and seas 5 to 8 ft expected. WHERE...Coastal waters from Altamaha Sound to Fernandina Beach FL out 20 NM and Coastal waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL out 20 NM. WHEN...For the Small Craft Advisory, from 4 PM this afternoon to 7 PM EDT this evening. For the Gale Warning, from 7 PM this evening to 5 AM EDT Friday. IMPACTS...Strong winds will cause hazardous seas which could capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Marine Weather Statement has been issued for the following areas... Coastal waters from Altamaha Sound to Fernandina Beach FL out 20 NM... Coastal waters from Fernandina Beach to St. Augustine FL out 20 NM... Waters from Altamaha Sound GA to Fernandina Beach FL from 20 to 60 NM... At 1108 AM EDT, Doppler radar indicated showers, capable of producing winds to around 30 knots. These showers were located along a line extending from 7 nm southeast of Tug Rio Caroni to 12 nm northwest of Amelia City, moving east at 25 knots. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Mariners can expect gusty winds to around 30 knots, locally higher waves, and lightning strikes. Boaters should seek safe harbor immediately until these storms pass.
