There are plenty of lists declaring the most livable U.S. cities for retirement, for post grads, for living sustainably and more. But which U.S. city is the most livable all-around?

A new report from RentCafe set out to determine just that, ranking 149 U.S. cities and metro areas on 17 criteria across three key categories: socioeconomics (aka affordability, including factors like cost of living and unemployment rate), quality of life (including mental and physical health and access to food, exercise options and healthcare), and location and community (including commute times and access to entertainment).

Because affordability was such a major factor in RentCafe's analysis, some of the U.S.'s most famous cities didn't make the top 10. For instance, New York City ranked at No. 22, Miami was No. 90 and Chicago came in at No. 111.
