Community Guidelines

Last Updated: January 6, 2026

Welcome to The Weather Channel Community!

We welcome thoughtful, respectful dialogue on the articles we publish. To maintain a safe and constructive space for discussion, all users posting comments must follow these guidelines:

What’s Encouraged:

  • Stay on topic: Keep your comments relevant to the article and its themes.
  • Be respectful: Disagree without being disagreeable. Debate ideas, not people.
  • Add value: Share informed opinions, personal experiences, or constructive feedback.
  • Use clear language: Aim for clarity and avoid excessive slang or all caps.

What’s Not Allowed:

  • Hate speech or discrimination: No comments that target individuals or groups based on race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, political affiliation, country, state, region or any protected characteristic.
  • Harassment or threats: Do not bully, intimidate, or threaten other commenters or authors.
  • Spam or self-promotion: Avoid irrelevant links, advertisements, or repeated posting.
  • False or misleading information: Do not spread misinformation or unfounded claims.
  • Profanity, vulgarity or obscene content: Keep language appropriate for a public, mixed-age audience.
  • Respect Others Privacy: Protect user privacy by refraining from sharing personal information in public forums, such as email addresses, phone numbers, or private messages.
  • Copyright Violation: Don’t share copyrighted material without permission.
  • AI-Generated Content: Do not create or share AI-generated content that impersonates others or uses someone else's likeness, voice, or identity without permission. All users must represent themselves genuinely.
  • Impersonation: Do not impersonate any public figures, political officials, celebrities, The Weather Channel staff, The Weather Company staff, or emergency personnel. Using another person's name, photo, or likeness without permission is strictly prohibited.
  • Misinformation: Do not spread misinformation or unfounded claims. During severe weather events, prioritize emergency guidance from official sources and local emergency management.

Moderation:

  • Comments are subject to review and may be edited or removed at our discretion.
  • Repeated or serious violations may result in a ban from commenting.
  • If you see a comment that violates these guidelines, please flag it for moderation.

Reminder:

By commenting, you agree to abide by these guidelines and our Terms of Use. These guidelines may be updated periodically to reflect community needs and platform changes. Continued participation indicates acceptance of any updates. The views expressed in the comments section are those of the users and not necessarily those of weather.com or The Weather Company.
