It’s tough to be a parent. But Shadow and Jackie, two bald eagle parents, showed why they are world-class parents and heroes during a recent windstorm that surged through Big Bear. These brave bald eagles manage to protect their eggs and nest, even though they were facing gusts that reached up to 63 miles an hour!

Talk about being great parents! In this incredible footage, Shadow is literally holding his nest together to protect his eggs while the strong winds shake everything around him. Of course, he also received help from Jackie, the mother of his soon-to-be hatchlings. Viewers on social media are calling this video a great reminder that some of the best parents are animal parents.

With powerful gusts of wind literally shaking the very foundations of his nest, Shadow used his powerful talons and body to literally hunker down on top of his eggs and keep his nest from blowing out of the tree. At one point, Shadow literally hangs on for dear life by grabbing the side of his nest with his beak to stop himself from getting blown away by the wind!

However, he was not alone. Jackie, the female bald eagle, quickly arrived to aid him in literally holding the nest down and keeping their eggs safe. Not only are Jackie and Shadow amazing bald eagles, but they are also amazing parents!

Not only does this video show how strong, determined, and resilient Jackie and Shadow are, but it is also a testament to what animals have to endure out in the wild. Sometimes, Mother Nature can throw some very difficult weather at them, but they still have to find a way to navigate it, which these magnificent bald eagles did with astounding survival instincts.

Jackie and Shadow Show What Parenting Is All About

Viewers on social media were utterly floored by Shadow and Jackie’s heroic parenting in the face of such adverse weather conditions. Some people praised them as remarkable parents: “Jackie and Shadow are wonderful parents.”

While others went so far as to say that Shadow and Jackie are even better parents than most humans: “I love that they acknowledge that animals are good parents. Probably better than humans, LOL!”

However, some people thought it was quite humorous that Jackie took a long time to arrive at the nest during this video: “He howled at her when she got back like, ‘What took you so long?’ LOL!”
