Spring has finally arrived, and the start of the season always feels like natural motivation to refresh our homes with as much color and whimsy as possible. According to Pinterest, though, don’t expect this season’s swaps to be all about the usual pastels and florals.

Because Pinterest's all-new Spring Trend Report reveals that unapologetic, personality-filled spaces are set to be front and center this season in small, intentional ways, making a big impact. This isn’t just a random guess or based on “fleeting internet chatter," the platform says. Instead, it's a clear picture of what the season holds for our homes based on what over 600 million active Pinterest users have been searching and saving.

That said, these are the micro-makeovers many are gearing up to make in their homes. In typical Pinterest fashion, this timely annual report leaves us with plenty of inspiration for bringing creative spaces to life.

Why Spring Is ‘the Season of Micro-Makeovers,’ According to Pinterest

Transforming our homes for a new season can feel like it has to be huge overhaul of our spaces or packed with big projects. This spring, Pinterest says that’s far from the case, with users prioritizing small changes to create spaces that feel like themselves.

“This is the season of micro-makeovers,” Pinterest writes, where “even the smallest choices can spark the biggest shifts.” Think doable upgrades like a splash of paint or low-lift hacks that don’t cost a fortune but still make a style statement.

All-white everything is out as more people opt for dopamine decorating and all things whimsical like bold uses of colors that feel full of personality. “People want bold, expressive colors,” Pinterest says, with shades like moody blue and vintage pink surging in searches.

Cozy Reading Nooks

Also on the rise are reading nooks that, no matter where they are around the house, feel like a quaint, cozy retreat. "Reading nook ideas" are up nearly 250 percent in searches, Pinterest found, with some turning to unexpected spots like closets (up 55 percent) and sheds (up 60 percent) to create these truly unique, snug escapes.

Spending time outside again is top of the list for many, so it makes sense people are increasingly looking for ways to create small outdoor havens. In fact, Pinterest says that it's small outdoor spaces like balconies that “are becoming spring’s main stage.”
