Roll clouds are a rare, mesmerizing type of shelf cloud or arcus cloud, and this one captured over Mission, Texas, is pretty astounding. Roll clouds can appear menacing, but they’re often the remnants of a parent thunderstorm. They can also be triggered by advancing cold fronts; however they appear, they’re definitely hard to look away from.
