Los Angeles Fire Department crews working the Sandy Fire aftermath in California's Simi Valley last week made a heartwarming discovery: a precious wedding ring buried beneath the charred remains of a family's home.

Engine 85 from LAFD came to assist the Boyle family after flames consumed their residence during the rapidly spreading wildfire that swept through the area. Video footage shared by Ventura County Fire Department shows the determined firefighters carefully searching through the ash and debris.

Their persistence paid off when they successfully located not only the wedding ring, but several other treasured belongings that survived the destruction.

The multi-agency response exemplified the collaborative spirit among California fire departments, with crews from across Southern California rushing to support local firefighting operations as the Sandy Fire rapidly expanded through Simi Valley.

The Boyle family expressed deep appreciation to VCFD and the many firefighters from throughout California who responded to battle the blaze and help them recover these irreplaceable mementos from their lost home.
