Kilauea, one of the world’s most active volcanoes, spewed a lava fountain again on Monday. It was the 48th time the volcano had a fountaining episode since the latest eruption began in December 2024. That means it took only about a year and a half to reach this record. The last record of 47 fountaining episodes took three and a half years.
