Why a rainy pattern is setting up in the Southern Plains

The Southern Plains, including Texas, Oklahoma and Louisiana, is entering a rainy pattern this week that could mean heavy rain and multiple days of potential flash flooding. The reason behind the wet spell: an upper-atmosphere pattern known as a shortwave trough that typically has rain on the eastern side and a high pressure system over the Southeast funneling moisture into the region. Meteorologist Sara Tonks explains.
