A pattern shift will bring brutal heat to much of the U.S. this coming week. Triple digit heat indices are possible for much of the East, and dozens of record highs could fall. Records will be in jeopardy across the Great Lakes Thursday, spreading to the Northeast and mid-Atlantic Friday.
