The Shark Research Lab at the Hawaii Institute of Marine Biology is turning these sharks into mobile weather stations capable of helping forecasters. Satellite tags on Hawaii’s sharks are capable of measuring ocean temperature, oxygen levels and sea surface temperature. That data can be collected on land in near-real time and potentially someday used in weather forecasting computer models.
