A driver in Alfortville, France, helped a stranger take shelter in his car as a violent thunderstorm tore through the region on Aug. 27. Meteo-France said the storm, which brought hail, heavy rain and “intense electrical activity,” produced wind gusts as strong as 88 mph in north-central France. Footage from another clip showed the winds toppling trees and overturning outdoor furniture in the Paris suburb of Vitry-sur-Seine.
