A multiday severe threat is setting up across the Northeast, and the culprit: a meteorological phenomenon known as the “ring of fire.” The heat dome building across the Central U.S. guides thunderstorms along its edge, called “ridge riders,” that can bring damaging winds, hail and even tornadoes.
