During the last Apple Watch Series 10 sale (which was the first time the price had ever dropped so low) I made the leap and bought the blue and silver 42mm GPS version. I knew I wanted to get back on track with my fitness goals, which had languished after a knee surgery recovery and a Fitbit that bit the dust.

The Apple Watch Series 10 launched in September 2024, and during the initial launch the average price started at $399. For those seeking a combination of fitness tracker, GPS, health monitor and smartphone accessory, it is a popular option unless you need something more rugged (in which case the Ultra 2 is a better choice).

It’s now on sale up to $100 off for the 42mm GPS version. If you’ve been on the fence about getting an Apple Watch and waiting for the right deal, the latest Series 10 has never been lower than it is right now.

My Experience With The Apple Watch Series 10

I was a diehard Fitbit user for many, many years. I generally preferred it's fitness tracking abilities, some smartphone capabilities, and long battery life. However, I found that every new season that I purchased, some of the functionality seemed to wane, there were more issues of bugs (not only experienced myself but my family as well), so I made the switch earlier this year.

I've been very satisfied with the Apple Watch Series 10 - not only is the 42mm smartwatch a perfect size for my wrist, the touch screen usability, smartphone alerts, texting, and fitness tracking are top notch. The battery lasts for a day when I have the always-on display switched off, and I've limited some of the app alerts in the settings so my watch isn't constantly vibrating throughout the day.

As for the fitness tracking, it has a ton of sports options to pick from, it tracks my steps and stride reasonably well, my heart rate and calories burned, and more. The stand-up hourly feature makes me aware of how long I've been sitting at my desk.

My husband uses his Apple Watch to remind him to take certain medications, which he says has been an invaluable feature.

What The Reviewers Say

Apple Watch users say this is one of the best options when it comes to value for money, with a sleek design, slightly smaller screen size and ease of use making this a great choice for men and women alike.

“An amazing must-have device,” says one happy reviewer, who went on to mention they use it not only to keep track of their exercise goals, but health monitoring as well. Another said, “I didn’t expect to be using [the activity features] so much…it has helped me get back into the routine of exercising.”

One reviewer said, “This is my second Apple Watch, I really like how it stays connected as I’m working even when my phone is far away. The quality is great and I love all the functions. I am a server and am constantly moving around and bumping into things, and this watch has held up and is scratch-resistant.”

As for complaints, one reviewer noted buyers should ditch the sports band and get something that is a little better quality. My family upgraded to the leather watch band and he loves it. Other reviewers found the battery life only around 20 hours. Another noted that if you need all of the smartphone features in this watch, you need to upgrade to the cellular option.
