Easter Weekend: 3 Things To Watch In Weather

The Easter holiday weekend's weather will have a mix of soaking rain, thunderstorms, a little snow, warmth and sunshine across the U.S.

Here are the weather highlights each day, along with maps showing where precipitation may fall and forecast high temperatures. For more on the threat of severe thunderstorms and flooding rainfall, check out our breakout forecast here.

Saturday

  • East: It will be a warm day from the Northeast to the Deep South with 70s or 80s in many areas. A spot or two could get to near 90 degrees in the Southeast. Showers and t-storms are possible over the interior Northeast.
  • Central: Showers and thunderstorms are a good bet from parts of Texas into the Ohio Valley. Dry and seasonably cool weather is expected in the Northern Plains and upper Midwest.
  • West: Snow will likely linger in parts of Arizona, Colorado and New Mexico. Just a few showers are possible in parts of the Northwest.

Easter Sunday

  • East: It should be a rain-free holiday. While cooler in the Northeast, the Southeast will remain quite hot for this time of year. Parts of the interior Carolinas or interior Florida peninsula could climb to 90 degrees.
  • Central: Showers and thunderstorms will be more widespread from Texas and Louisiana to the upper Mississippi Valley. Severe storms are likely from Missouri to Louisiana late in the day. Rain and clouds will hold temperatures in the upper 40s or 50s from the central Plains to the Great Lakes.
  • West: Except for a few pesky showers in parts of the Northwest, holiday weather should be decent with temperatures at least several degrees warmer than Saturday in the Southwest.
