House Dogs Become Sled Team In Michigan Blizzard

Showers and storms will be commonplace in parts of the Midwest, South and East this weekend, and that could mean some interruptions to sporting events, whether you are attending or watching on television.

Here's a closer look at what Major League Baseball and the NCAA Baseball Super Regionals could see:

Major League Baseball

Note: We've only included matchups that have a chance of rain at some point this weekend and are outdoors.

• Chicago Cubs at Detroit Tigers (Saturday - 1:10 p.m. EDT | Sunday - 1:40 p.m. EDT) - There is no threat of rain for Saturday's game. On Sunday, a weather system passing to the south could introduce a chance of showers, so it's worth keeping up to date on the forecast just in case. Either way, it doesn't seem like enough rain to force a cancellation.
• Toronto Blue Jays at Minnesota Twins: (Saturday and Sunday - 1:10 p.m. CDT) - A hit-or-miss shower or thunderstorm is possible Saturday afternoon, so take a poncho just in case. A lightning delay can't be ruled out if a storm forms near the stadium. It'll be partly cloudy Sunday, but the most noticeable change will be wind gusts up to 25 mph picking up from out of the west.
• Los Angeles Dodgers at St. Louis Cardinals - (Saturday and Sunday - 1:15 p.m. CDT) - Showers and thunderstorms are a good bet in the metro area Saturday, so a lightning or rain delay is possible and a cancellation can't be ruled out. The good news is that Sunday has no weather worries with partly cloudy skies and highs warming to the low 80s.
• Texas Rangers at Washington Nationals - (Saturday - 4:05 p.m. EDT | Sunday - 1:35 p.m. EDT) - The risk of a shower is low Saturday, but Sunday will feature increasing scattered thunderstorm chances, so a rain or lightning delay is possible.
• Philadelphia Phillies at Pittsburgh Pirates (Saturday - 4:05 p.m. EDT | Sunday - 1:35 p.m. EDT) - A split weekend is in store with Saturday shaping up to be fine for this interstate matchup. The risk of rain and thunderstorms is in play for Sunday, so a rain or lightning delay is possible.
• Arizona Diamondbacks at Cincinnati Reds (Saturday - 4:10 p.m. EDT | Sunday - 1:40 p.m. EDT) - The timing of a weather system tracking through the Ohio Valley will play a role in whether either game sees rainfall. Scattered storms could arrive by late afternoon Saturday, but it's possible they hold off until late in the game or after it's over. On Sunday, scattered hit-or-miss showers could linger for the early-afternoon first pitch. For both games, take a poncho just in case, and know that a rain or lightning delay can't be ruled out.
• Houston Astros at Cleveland Guardians (Saturday - 4:10 p.m. EDT | Sunday - 1:40 p.m. EDT) - Saturday's game should be just fine. An approaching weather system on Sunday will bring rain into the Cleveland area, so a rain delay is possible.
• Kansas City Royals at Chicago White Sox (Saturday - 3:10 p.m. CDT | Sunday 1:10 p.m. CDT) - On Saturday, the threat of showers won't arrive until the evening, so that game should have no problems. The threat of rain on Sunday is low, but we can't rule out a shower, though the risk of a delay seems low.
• Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees (Saturday - 7:35 p.m. EDT | Sunday 7:10 p.m. EDT) - The daytime on Saturday could have a few showers or a thunderstorm risk, but the evening first pitch should be fine for this rivalry. Sunday evening's game is more questionable, depending on the timing of an approaching weather system. For now, plan to take a poncho just in case and know a rain delay is possible but not guaranteed. The forecast is likely to change, so keep up to date as Sunday approaches.

NCAA Baseball Super Regionals

Note: We've only included matchups that have a chance of rain at some point this weekend and are outdoors.

• Arizona vs. North Carolina in Chapel Hill, North Carolina (Saturday noon EDT | Sunday TBD, if necessary) - The risk of a storm is low for Saturday's game, with the greatest chance not until late in the day. If Sunday's game is needed and is in the afternoon, then scattered storms could be a threat.
• Miami vs. Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky (Saturday 11 a.m. EDT | Sunday TBD, if necessary) - Saturday's early start should help it avoid thunderstorms arriving later in the day. If a third game is needed, then Sunday should be fine, other than a few early showers.
• Murray State vs. Duke in Durham, North Carolina (Saturday 1 p.m. EDT | Sunday noon EDT) - The forecast is similar to the one for the Arizona and North Carolina matchup. Storm chances are greatest later in the afternoon, so Saturday shouldn't have a problem unless the game runs long. Sunday's game starting early should avoid the greatest storm chances that arrive later in the day, but a lightning or rain delay is possible late in the game, especially if it goes into mid-afternoon.
• West Virginia vs. LSU in Baton Rouge, Louisiana (Saturday 1 p.m. CDT | Sunday 5 p.m. CDT): The risk of a storm is low this weekend, but one can't be completely ruled out Sunday afternoon. It will be plenty hot, with afternoon highs hitting the mid-90s.
• Coastal Carolina vs. Auburn in Auburn, Alabama (Saturday 2 p.m. CDT | Sunday TBD, if necessary): We don't expect any problems for Saturday. If Sunday's game is deemed necessary, then storms could be a factor.
• Tennessee vs. Arkansas in Fayetteville, Arkansas (Saturday 4 p.m. CDT | Sunday 2 p.m. CDT): Thunderstorms should exit Saturday morning, so the afternoon game is forecast to be fine. No weather worries are expected for Sunday either.
