Does this spring allergy season have you feeling like your city must be the most pollen-filled on the planet? The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is here to satisfy your curiosity. The organization has ranked the top 100 largest cities in the continental United States based on how challenging they are for their citizens to get by with spring allergies.

The AAFA’s Spring Allergy Capitals report has come out annually since 2003 and aims to help patients and communities recognize, manage and prevent allergy symptoms.

“The spring pollen season has increasingly intensified with longer, warmer growing seasons that produce stronger pollen at higher quantities,” AAFA president and CEO Kenneth Mendez and Vice President of Community Health and Services Melanie Carver write in the report. “Communities need to work together to provide solutions to the challenges raised by climate change, rising health care costs and access to specialized care.”

Three factors were analyzed in the study: spring pollen score, allergy medication use and number of allergy specialists.

If you’re looking to get away from all the pollen, it seems Durham, North Carolina is your best bet. Ranked dead last on the list, this city scores a pretty 37.56 on the scale, with better-than-average pollen and allergy medication use, and an about average number of board-certified allergists per patient.

Many of the 50 million Americans who suffer from allergies live in the cities on the list. Where does your city rank? Which city is the worst? Click through to find out.
