A fast-moving wildfire spread into a gated community in Laguna Niguel, California, Wednesday night, destroying at least 20 homes, some of which were multi-million-dollar mansions.

The fire has been named the Coastal Fire, and it has burned less than half of a square mile. The fire is 0% contained according to CalFire.

Winds gusting up to 30 mph fanned the flames and a state of emergency was declared in Laguna Niguel to avail additional resources to fight the blaze.

Parts of the area remained under mandatory evacuation Thursday morning. There were no of any deaths but one firefighter has been reported injured as of Thursday morning.

According to the Associated Press, Fennessy said climate change has made even small fires "extreme threats to life and property throughout the West."

Officials said that southern California's climate change-fueled megadrought helped the fire spread quickly. The state is in its third year of severe drought, which has depleted reservoirs and worsened wildfires.
