The Sheep Fire has burned 1.5 square miles in Wrightwood, California. According to CalFire, was 81% contained on Wednesday.

The fire broke out Saturday near the Pacific Crest Trail in the San Gabriel Mountains northeast of Los Angeles. The fire grew from less than a tenth of a mile to more than one square mile between 1:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Sunday, according to Angeles National Fire officials.

Photos show firefighters battling the blaze on the ground and from the air with helicopters.

Firefighters worked to contain another fire in the foothills above Duarte on Sunday, but no homes were damaged or threatened in the fire, according to the AP.

Both fires remain under investigation.
