Rain on Sunday and Monday aided firefighters fighting to stop the spread of California's McKinney Fire, but the fire remains 0% contained as of late Tuesday morning.

At least two people died and hundreds were forced to evacuate as the wildfire burned through thousands of acres of the Klamath National Forest in Northern California.

The blaze had burned nearly 87 square miles of land by Monday morning. The cause of the fire remained under investigation.

Officials said more than 100 structures had been destroyed. The two victims were found in a vehicle parked in a driveway, and may have been attempting to flee the flames as the fire spread rapidly.

A smaller fire was also burning in the Klamath National Forest near the small community of Happy Camp on Tuesday which spurred additional evacuations and road closures.
