A​ winter storm spread snow from parts of the Midwest and Great Plains to the Northeast on Wednesday, making for dangerous travel conditions in several states. The storm was named Winter Storm Kassandra by The Weather Channel.

P​hotos show snowy scenes from Chicago to New Jersey on Wednesday. By early afternoon, Lowell, Indiana, about 50 miles from Chicago, had measured 5 inches of accumulation, according to ABC7Chicago. Parts of upstate New York and northern New England were expected to see 6 inches or more.

On Tuesday, the storm dumped several inches on the Southern Plains and Ozarks. Lubbock Police Department tweeted a photo of a snowy landscape at their East Division Station on Tuesday.
