Photos Show Downed Trees And Damage After 'Bomb Cyclone' Strikes California

A powerful "bomb cyclone" killed at least two people and left behind downed trees and damage in California. The storm brought wind gusts of 70 to 80 mph at higher elevations, while lower elevations had gusts up to 50 to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.

One person died after they were struck by a falling tree in Walnut Creek, California, according to the Contra Costa County Fire Department. A man was killed in San Mateo County when a tree fell on the sewer truck he was driving, CBS News reported.

At least four others were hospitalized due to falling trees, according to SFGate.com

An Amtrak train carrying 55 passengers derailed due to a downed tree, the San Francisco Chronicle reported. The strong wind also broke windows of skyscrapers in San Francisco.

More than 133,000 customers were without power in California Wednesday morning, according to PowerOutage.us. Most of the outages were concentrated in the San Francisco area.

The storm also brought more rain and additional feet of mountain snow to the state. The storm comes after several storms have dumped more than 10 feet of snow in some mountainous areas of California as well as flooding rains in lower elevations.
