Beat The Heat: Tips For Staying Cool (And Safe) This Summer

With record highs already being recorded across the country this summer, it's never been more important to stay cool...and be smart.

Whether you're at home, on the road or going for a run, we have simple tips for you. At home, keeping your air conditioning on blast will obviously make a difference, but homeowners can also put up white drapes to deflect heat. Also, cooking indoors creates steam and raises temperatures, so an easy fix is to cook outdoors more often. A great excuse to have a summer BBQ.

Drivers should be sure to get their air conditioner inspected and coolant replaced during the summer. If you think you aren't getting the most out of your A/C, you may be right. Also, never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.

If you're a jogger, it may be smart to avoid peak daytime hours and to even use sunscreen.

These tips may seem like small changes, but they can add up to a cooler, safer summer.
